Brief Description: Archbishop Molloy High School is a private Catholic, college-preparatory school, located in Briarwood, Queens. This outstanding Marist High School is known for its academic standards, exemplary guidance and winning athletics programs. This position is entry level and reports to the Information Technology Director.
The IT Technician’s primary focus is in the areas of computer/tablet operations (PC and Apple), user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. Performs a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of assistance, equipment maintenance and repair and computer operations assignments. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the IT Manager. May provide information to students, staff, faculty or parents on established policies and procedures, or services provided.
Typical Duties:
- Provides assistance in the use of personal computer hardware, software, iPads and related accessories;
- Sets up and configures desktop computers, iPads, peripherals and accounts assigning security level;
- Installs and updates software;
- Repairs hardware and peripherals;
- Works with the Meraki Mobile Device Management platform to deploy and maintain iPads;
- Provides support for SMART Boards, Apple TV’s and Projectors.
- Tests programs;
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate;
- Uses the IT Helpdesk support system to manage and track trouble tickets;
- Administers user accounts;
- Designs and produces basic reports;
- Transfers computer files between platforms;
- Contributes to organizational goals by accomplishing related duties as required.
- Provides technical assistance on occasional evenings or weekends for school events
- Works with the Information Technology Director in advancing the implementation of technology in the organization.
Experience:
A 4 year college degree with information technology training is preferred. Two or more years of related experience with computers and providing customer service in a technological environment. Applicant must have excellent communication skills and be able to multitask with ease. Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows operating system and Apple Mac OS / iOS is a must.
