CenterPoint Energy is looking for an IT Director of M&A and Major Programs to join our Information Technology Team, located in Houston, Texas.
You will have the ability to provide IT strategy and leadership for large, complex programs and projects, including mergers & acquisitions, divestitures,
and other strategic/multi-year initiatives to achieve business goals and desired outcomes. The role involves aligning IT initiatives to influence direction
and decisions across diverse stakeholder groups. This position will report to the Vice President, Office of the CIO.
- Responsible for IT governance, oversight, and leadership for diverse, large-scale, complex IT programs (strategic business/IT initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures)
- Develops / right-size’s IT program operating model and stands-up IT Program Management Office (PMO) structure
- Collaborates with key stakeholder groups to develop and validate scope, goals, and outcomes.
- Develops strategy, approach, and resource model (in-house staff and/or outsourcing)
- Coordinates development, approvals, and execution of all relevant project management office deliverables (Project plans, business case, resource plan, budgets.)
- Develops and manages performance metrics; prepares and presents team and executive performance management and status reports.
- Ensures program management of project closeout to include coordination and completion of all technical, operational, procurement and budgeting tasks.
- Manages client relationships (multiple internal and external)
- Develops and cultivates relationships with cross-functional program team members and works closely with business and operations partners to ensure acceptance, quality, and integrity of program goals and initiatives.
Vendor Management:
- Initiates process to acquire vendor services/support; collaborates with internal groups to identify, evaluate, and select vendors and/or procure services). Develops Scope of Work (SOW), evaluates estimates and coordinates with CNP functions to reach agreement and execute SOW’s. Facilitates vendor/resource onboarding (as applicable).
- Ensures vendor activities and inter-dependencies are incorporated into and align with CNP project plan and costs are tracked in financial plan; tracks monitors and reports on vendor deliverables and performance.
- Monitors and mitigates risks; resolves issues.
Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures:
- As IT workstream lead, coordinates with Integration Management Office / Separation Management Office (IMO/ /SMO) to provide support for discovery phase and other key divestiture deliverables
- Coordinates gathering & provision of key data points (IT Assets, Applications in use, technology framework, etc.)
- Requires minimum of 8 to 10 years of management experience with a proven track record of organizational success.
- Requires minimum of 8 to 10 years of functional work experience in Business Operations, Information Technology Operations, and/or related field.
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and development approaches.
- Ability to handle capital and operating expenses.
- Experience managing business critical functions and/or operations is strongly preferred.
- Experience and understanding of the electric and gas utility operations, or other regulated industry, is strongly preferred.
Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
