What they’re looking for:
•Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program required.
•Two years of L&D experience required.
•Current Texas licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse & Certified Nurse Midwife required.
•Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient care is administered independently. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment.
Hours and compensation potential:
•The position if full time. Person will need to take call 7 days a month and anything over that is compensated.
•Range is $120K-$140K with RVU bonus depending on experience.
•A full benefits package included $1K CME allowance as well as a 5K sign-on bonus.
What you’ll be doing:
•Under general supervision of a Physician, the Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) responsible for managing and providing women’s health care services related to pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, family planning and gynecological needs.
•This position will deliver patient care in both clinic and hospital settings within an Ob/Gyn practice.
•Provides excellent patient care by utilizing highly developed assessment, clinical, documentation, and analytical skills to identify, plan, and implement appropriate care plans for patients.
•Effective management of both routine and complex clinic patients along with other clinic demands, as varied throughout the day, in balance with hospital duties as part of a provider team.
•Effective management of admitted hospital patients, including antepartum, peripartum/laboring, and postpartum with minimal supervision.
•Timely documentation of care, signing off of labs, and post-care patient communication to ensure best continuity of care while meeting financial targets.
•Proper identification of patient need for escalation to Physician care when indicated, as urgent/emergent care issues arise.
•Adheres to infection prevention and safety protocols.
•Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement, and desired client-centered outcomes.
•Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, competence validation; supports department-based goals which contributed to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
•Actively participates in survey readiness activities and assures that department is compliant with all regulatory standards.
What you can expect is:
•Position is located an hour from Houston.
•Will work with a great group that is growing. Currently deliver about 20-25 babies monthly and would like to double that with 2 OB/Gyns and a Midwife. Currently have 1 OB/Gyn with more patients than they can see.
•Facility is about 120 beds, accredited, not-for-profit acute care community hospital.
Duties:
- Provide primary care services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and conditions
- Prescribe medications and treatments
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Specialize in specific areas such as neonatal care, ophthalmology, special needs care, memory care, etc.
- Perform procedures such as airway management, gastric lavage, sterile processing, etc.
Qualifications:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice
- Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the respective specialty area (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner)
- Strong clinical knowledge and skills in primary care and specialized areas
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and age groups
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments
- Proficient in using electronic medical record systems
