This position reports to 1st shift, Monday-Thursday, 6:00am-4:15am with overtime occasionally on Friday.

General Description: The laser operator is responsible for daily setup and operation of new Mitsubishi fiber lasers and automation system.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Mitsubishi fiber laser and automation system to meet scheduled production requirements, following prints, and complying with quality standards.
- Setup and download CNC nesting programs.
- Operate crane or forklift to safely move material as necessary to the laser.
- Have knowledge about different types of metals and gauges.
- Accurately record production data, including material used and downtime.
- Approve all work for quality before moving to the next operation.
- Unload parts from finished sheets, separate them, and organize each job.
- Be able to use hand tools to deburr and clean parts.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to company’s safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a well-organized and clean work environment in the metal fabrication department.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; calling maintenance department for repairs.
- Learn to operate press brake and automated tool changer equipment and fill in, as necessary.
Skills:
- Minimum two years laser experience.
- Excellent organizational & time management skills.
- Solid background in working with sheet metal.
- Capable of operating a crane and forklift.
- Self-motivated.
- Press brake knowledge is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand- Must be able to stand in a stationary position 50% of the day.
- Carry weight/lift - must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to move material.
- Kneel, crouch, and/or bend - must be able to position self to pick up and move parts as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
