Reports to: Vice President of Agency Operations
Position Summary: This position requires a goal-oriented individual to work in tandem with our Business Development Representatives and Commercial Multi -Line Underwriters to produce, and retain, profitable accounts, reduce account declinations and create non risk revenue. The purpose of this position is to provide front-line contact with third party carriers, accounts, and brokers.
Receives functional direction and guidelines from the Brokerage Manager or Vice President and operates within policies and guidelines established by brokerage management.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
New & Renewal
Bind new business!
P&C Licensed
Review applications for class acceptability, completeness (request additional info, if appropriate), and risk acceptability as a pre underwriting function
Be knowledgeable of carriers submission requirements
Evaluate classifications for accuracy
Coordinate pricing with the third-party carrier, PLM Underwriter and Business Development Representative and broker by determining expiring price, target price, need by date and who competition is. Obtain commitment from broker regarding account placement if we meet the targets
Coordinate quotation’s release with the PLM Underwriter and Business Development Representative
Establish a diary on the quotations for follow up. Re-diary for follow up prior to effective date to ascertain our success and, if appropriate, consider last minute revisions.
Process all quotations by broker’s “need by” date.
Participate in various trade association meetings and conventions as required
Submit Expense accounts by the 10th of the month following close of expense period.
Complete various records and reports for home office utilization.
Review and handle all mail, email, correspondence and telephone calls on the date received or no later than 24 hours

Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Prior background in insurance and marketing essential. Basic understanding of the insurance industry.
Experience in a retail/wholesale commercial environment
Certification of successful completion of insurance studies (CPCU, CIC, AU, General Insurance, etc.) preferred.
Computer literacy and ability to type reports and use Microsoft Office Products
Understanding of and ability to apply underwriting processes to potential and current risks
Detailed understanding and “current knowledge” of commercial coverages and policy forms
Good understanding of policy construction detail
Outstanding organizational skills resulting in the ability to handle a large workload
Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Strong negotiation skills
Basic understanding of the sales process
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to build and manage relationships with insurance carriers, clients, and fellow employees
Ability to identify and solve complex problems
Ability to manage time efficiently
Willingness to work irregular hours as the position requires.
Ability to travel and stay overnight occasionally.
Using multiple systems and resources, accurately rate and issue New Business submissions and Renewal business within company standards.
Provide backup support to to ensure standards are met by the entire department.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
