JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise
- Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for customers’ needs
- Answer customers questions about merchandise and assist customers with purchase decisions
- Accurately complete sales using the POS system according to established procedures
- Organize and effectively merchandise items for sale
- Assist in keeping the store clean
- Assemble and organize products and displays
- Assist customers with loading and unloading products as needed
- Process returns and exchanges
- Utilize customer-focused selling skills, add-on selling, closing skills, and other sales generating skills
- Exhibit an ability to get along with others
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment
- Proficiency using Microsoft Windows
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop and kneel frequently
- Lift, carry and load 60 pounds (minimum) weight requirements
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Proven track record of being dependable and reliable
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and customers
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Commitment to high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a retail setting
- Product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, horse/equine, hardware, fencing, lawn & garden supplies, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, or wild bird supplies.
SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position (schedule may vary). 40 hours per week. Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
