Knowledge:
- Experience in execution requirements relating to furnishing and installation of Communications Cabling and Termination Components and related sub-systems as part of a Structured Cabling System for the project. The specified cabling may support “voice”, “data”, audiovisual and networked security applications as noted.
- Install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems, including security systems, fire alarms, and audiovisual equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine the layout and installation of low voltage systems.
- Experience in Life Safety code and implementation in new and existing structures.
- Work may also include removal and recycling of unused, un-documented and otherwise "abandoned" cables.
- Skilled at working with complex systems performing highly technical installations and diagnostic testing on structured cabling systems (SCS) and network components.
- Test and troubleshoot low voltage systems to identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions.
- Install and configure computer networking equipment for data and communication purposes.
- Run cabling and wiring for low voltage systems, ensuring proper connections and adherence to safety standards.
- Collaborate with other technicians and contractors to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Provide technical support and assistance to customers regarding low voltage systems.
- Previous experience as a low voltage technician or in a related field such as electrical work or alarm system sales.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage systems, including IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), fire alarms, audiovisual equipment, etc.
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot issues with low voltage systems, using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in order to ensure accurate installation and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and provide technical support to customers.
- Technicians must perform duties in a professional manner and in accordance with industry best practices.
