The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for various accounting related work, reconciliations, and analysis of the Jackson Healthcare corporate accounts. The accounting aspects will include recording journal entries, taking part in the month end review and close process, account reconciliations, working with the Jackson Healthcare team leaders on their actual, forecast and budget reviews, and assisting with special projects as they arise in the accounting team. The Senior Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller during the year end audit process by providing information and analysis to the external auditors.
Role and Responsibilities
- Works with Assistant Controller in month-end close process to ensure closes are completed timely and accurately.
- Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations
- Work collaboratively with the resource team leaders on their actual, forecast and budget compilations.
- Assist with special projects as they arise in the accounting team.
- Assist the Assistant Controller during the year end audit process by providing information to external auditors.
- Assist with consolidations of multiple companies.
- Assist with generating financial statements.
- Work with resource team leaders to achieve budget objectives by providing timely and accurate department financial statements with meaningful variance analyses.
- Researches and resolves accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize and be contemporaneously supportive of multiple customers.
- Capable of organizing projects, staying focused and working effectively with day to day and week-to-week supervision
- Ability to interface and engage with the leaders of the resource teams.
- Dependable, reliable, honest, and respectful of others; maintains the highest levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products (w/ above average proficiency in Microsoft Excel)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Accounting required.
- Active CPA required
- 5+ years related work experience in accounting required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Good knowledge of and experience with creating maintaining strong internal controls
- Strong understanding of general ledger functions, month-end close functions and account reconciliations
- Experience of WorkDay is a plus
- Experience in a public accounting firm strongly preferred.
