GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining air conditioning, heating systems, and refrigeration equipment on all City facilities. Perform a variety of repair work in fabrication, maintenance, and installation to ensure safe conditions.

Works under the general supervision of the Electrical Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, and other additional duties that may be assigned
Change belts, clean coils, oil and grease motors, change filters, check temperatures and pressure, repair broken equipment on existing HVAC systems. Install new HVAC units ranging from 3-ton to 80-ton units, which requires installing pipe, ductwork, and thermostats, as well as, adding freon, verify new units are functioning correctly. Must be able to troubleshoot system malfunctions and determine parts repair and/or replacement. Some after hours or weekend on-call work may be asked. Knowledge and troubleshooting in various VRF systems and BAS systems.
Verify industry standards; locate parts and equipment; acquire pricing for units and parts; determine size of units required for buildings; verify equipment/parts are as ordered; and obtain supplies from vendors. Must be knowledgeable of refrigerants and their properties, computerization of air conditioning and heating units, as well as, current on new technologies. Must be able to read schematics, wiring diagrams, must have electrical knowledge and experience. Ability to use voltmeter, solder, and operates tow motor.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Respond to customer inquiries.
Performs back-up duties for related positions as required.
Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.
Operates computer to input data.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Certifications:

Graduation from High School or GED equivalent, and
-
One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and
-
Texas Air Conditioning License, Refrigerant Recovery License
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class “C” Driver’s License.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Motorized vehicles and equipment including pickup, hydraulic press, wire cutters, electrical testing equipment, clamp sticks, line tracer, and various hand tools.
