Beacon Mobility is seeking Mobile Diesel Fleet Mechanic to Join the Fleet Maintenance Department at NRT Bus. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong bus and diesel diagnostic, troubleshooting and repairs skills. Working at our remote facilities and lots, who possess the ability to work independently, have quality customer service and verbal communications skills. You will be responsible for quickly and accurately diagnosing vehicle issues and determine what is needed to return the vehicle to service. You will be provided a service vehicle and expected to maintain the proper parts, supplies, and tools to minimize downed equipment.
This is a field position; candidate works outside in all-weather conditions supporting multiple facilities and lots in northeastern Massachusetts and reports to the Regional Maintenance Superintendent
This position reports to work Mon-Fri, 6:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on buses or automotive vehicles
- Perform DOT and 7D inspections
- Accurately diagnose and repair diesel engines
- Perform field repairs quickly and efficiently
- Communicate with maintenance & operations on accurate ETA times
- Provide labor and time estimates for repairs
- Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components
- Ability to prioritize work and repairs
- Ability to follow checklists and polices while conducting repairs
- Clean and maintain service truck, tools, and equipment
- Ensure a safe, organized, and clean workspace
- Ability to expertly use computer diagnostic tools and equipment
- Accurately input, track and maintain all maintenance data and records
- Track and account for service truck inventory and order new parts when required
- Communicate professionally with drivers, team members, and supervisor
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Associate degree or vocational/trade school certification preferred
- 5 year bus or truck experience required
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record – CDL class A preferred
- ASE certification highly desired
- Massachusetts Commercial or 7D inspection certificate highly desired
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Strong background & experience with diesel diagnostic equipment
- Coordinated and dexterous
- Work is performed outside in all weather conditions. Is required to follow all prescribed safety procedures and may be required to use safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection and face shields.
- Ability to work in uncomfortable, physically demanding positions, stand on one’s feet for prolonged periods, and lift up to 75 pounds at a time
