Position Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Purpose: The Director of Membership directs all aspects of the council's membership function, to ensure the successful design, implementation, delivery and assessment of a nationally consistent experience for girls residing within the council's jurisdiction.
Location: The Girl Scout Volunteer Resource Center, Charleston, WV
Hours:
- This is an exempt position that may regularly require a 40-hour work week.
- This position will operate with the standard business hours of a 4.5 day workweek during the school year. Summer business hours may change to a 4-day week upon the approval of the CEO, but not guaranteed.
Direct Reports:
This position leads a team of 10 (including director). These nine staff positions are based out of their home throughout parts of our council's geographic footprint. The membership staff serve smaller regions throughout the council and are our council points of contact for troop leaders and service unit administrators.
Salary: $60,000

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Implement and Oversee the Council's Membership Delivery Model:
- Develop, implement and assess a comprehensive year-round member recruitment and retention plan.
- Serve girls in innovative ways, breaking down the barriers of participation.
- Seek to understand what communities and families need and want.
Attract and Engage New Members and Volunteers:
- Create and manage strategies and tactics around lead generation, grassroots recruitment efforts, community volunteer support and community level engagement.
- Provide oversight of overall council-wide membership growth.
- Integrate all functions related to membership to meet and exceed membership recruitment and retention goals. This includes developing and implementing comprehensive and strategic plans for girl and volunteer membership growth. This will be accomplished through building strong relationships within the Council, Service Unit volunteers, schools, key community leaders, families, institutions, businesses and organizations to leverage membership growth and services.
Drive Member and Volunteer Satisfaction and Retention:
- Create and manage strategies and tactics around member retention and first year troop leader support.
- Identify the need for and provide timely problem solving and conflict resolution support and/or intervention with membership team members and/or service unit team members and volunteers when appropriate.
Drive Membership Results through Data, Strategy and, Leadership and Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively across the council to achieve the strategic membership plan, implement the tactical membership growth plan, and meet KPIs.
- Work collaboratively with the council's leadership team to ensure a cohesive member experience.
- Serve as a member of the council's leadership team.
- Provide supervision, coaching, training and leadership to regional membership staff to support impact and growth in girl, adult and volunteer retention and new member acquisition.
Other:
- Oversee the department's annual budget and budgeting process.
- Exemplify strong leadership, team, and personal accountability in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
- Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, sales, organizational leadership, non-profit management, business, or another related field.
- 3+ years supervisory experience.
- Proven ability to deliver results.
- Proven ability for accountability practices.
- Budgetary experience preferred.
' Must maintain valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel throughout council jurisdiction.
- Occasionally moves throughout the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, supplies, etc.
- Occasionally moves items that weigh up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to sit in a meeting or at a workstation and a computer screen for prolonged periods.
