BHRAGS Alliance is the sister company of BHRAGS Home Care, a not-for profit 501© (3) organization established in 1980. BHRAGS operates shelter for the homeless immigrant popluation. BHRAGS promotes safety, justice, health, and independence for vulnerable individuals with mental or physical challenges.
DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Social Services will work closely with the Program Director, and Executive Director to oversee all clinical services including programming, staff supervision, client/staff interviewing, case records review, clinical rounds, community connections and participation and compliant with BHRAGS Alliance, funding and regulatory agency policies, procedure and regulations.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Serve as a resource to the shelters’ social services department staff
· Involve residents in planning Social Service program when possible
· Provide consultation to members of staff, community agencies etc. in an effort to solve the needs and problems of residents
· Plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Social Services Department in accordance with DHS and local standards, guidelines and regulations
· Make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Administration
· Develop and implement policies and procedures for the implementation of medical, social and emotional needs of the residents
· Participate in community planning related to the interest of the facility and the services and needs of the people served
· Maintain necessary records and prepare regular and special reports as required
· Engage in community outreach efforts to identify housing opportunities
· Develop and maintain relationships with government partners, and supportive community-based organizations
· Coordinate services with other agencies to ensure that clients receive the care needed
· Represent BHRAGS ALLIANCE at city and statewide coalitions, task forces and committees
· Participate in monthly staff meetings, case conferences and training seminars as indicated by the Shelter Director and/or Executive Director
· Assist with reports and program evaluations
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Director and/or Executive Director
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Master’s degree in Human Services or related field
· At least five years of experience working with homeless population
· At least five years of experience in a supervisory role
· Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge immigration and disenfranchised communities including individuals whom identify as lesbian, gay,
· bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, and individuals with mental health issues
· Superior written and oral communication skills
· Comprehensive knowledge and skills to develop strong linkages with city and community based services to secure timely services for clients
· Ability to be flexible with schedule and be available as needed
· Must exhibit advance computer skills, with a firm knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
· Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
· Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a diverse community of residents, program staff, and external partners
· Strong time management skills and organization skills.
· High attention to detail.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
