The Server and Network Solutions Engineer / Administrator is responsible for managing multiple priorities and following through on projects to their completion. As the Server and Network Solutions Engineer / Administrator you will be responsible for the overall infrastructure across multiple domains. You will be part of a team that designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots client networks, servers, and workstations.
**** THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN THE SCRANTON, PA AREA AND REQUIRES THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE TO REPORT TO WORK IN PERSON DAILY. ****
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure and maintain server related equipment such as server hardware, network storage arrays, and backup appliances.
- Design solutions to meet needs and effectively articulate the solution to the client
- Build/maintain documentation, guides, and diagrams that can be utilized by all members of the IT department
- Configure, build, engineer server and storage solutions both on-premises and in the cloud
- Monitor and identify problems and resolutions
- Analyze business requirements to develop technical solutions
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users
- Provide Tier 3 support assistance to help desk for server related issues
- Harden server operating systems and quickly close identified vulnerabilities
- Thoroughly document network processes, procedures, and practices
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud
- Minimum three to five years of experience in a related job role
- Strong working knowledge of IT related security and security frameworks
- Strong working knowledge of IT security related best practices
- Strong working knowledge of and ability to perform IT security audits across all facets of IT infrastructure, both on-premises and cloud
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Practical knowledge of networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, and routing protocols
- Practical knowledge of server technologies, including Windows and Linux OSes, server roles, security, authentication services, certificate authorities
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Windows Server operating systems and roles such as Active Directory Domain Services, File and Print Services, DHCP, DNS, and RADIUS Services.
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Microsoft Exchange Server, MS Office 365, Azure AD, and related technologies
- Experience working on multi-phased projects
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle database configuration and administration is a plus
- Certification with vendors such as Microsoft, Citrix, or VMWare is a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot multiple desktop operating systems and applications
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills; including communication of technical concepts to non-technical people
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
