HEARING ITINERANT TEACHER - District Wide
JOB SUMMARY: The Hearing Itinerant will deliver instruction to improve learning
outcomes, self-advocacy skills and communication skills for students with hearing needs. The
qualified candidate will work in both a direct and consult role while serving students in both
push-in and pull-out formats. They will also participate in the IEP process for students on their
respective caseload. The qualified candidate must have the means and ability to transport
themselves to and from each of their assigned school buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Teacher of
Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Satisfactory special education teaching experience
- Knowledge of current teaching techniques for students with disabilities
- Excellent communication skills with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to write and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s)
- Ability to work cooperatively with support personnel on a daily basis
WORKING CONDITIONS: Salary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule. The
District offers excellent fringe benefits, including life, health and dental insurance.
