Heart provides open terminals in Illinois, Georgia, and Missouri, and together with our terminals across Canada, we are well positioned to offer our customers physical distribution throughout Canada and the United States.
Our Melrose Park terminal is seeking a FT/PT Sales Representative/Operations support team member (hybrid-remote) for immediate hire. This position comes with an annual salary based on hours/experience plus unlimited commission.
Objective
The Sales representative’s role is primarily to achieve sales and gross margin objectives across defined geographical markets, in this case, from the Chicagoland area into Canada. This position helps determine both the short and long-term success of the company. Working with the Operations teams, the Sales Representative will help determine the gross margin rates and dollars the company achieves. The Sales Representative must represent the organization in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the company.
This hybrid position is ultimately responsible for creating new sales and involves up to 10 weeks per year in-office operations cross training (dispatch, track & trace, rates, customs-clearances.)
Responsibilities
· Achieve sales objectives
· Develop and sell to a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face and cold calling on business owners, by email, and through networking.
· Work with the Operations team to ensure each existing or potential client receives timely, accurate quotes and all the support information that enables the clients to make their decisions in a timely, cost-efficient manner.
· Maintain and provide sales progress reports
· Demonstrate the ability to gather, submit detailed business information for underwriting, pricing, and presentation of solutions to prospects’ business problems.
· Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
· Ensure the selling efforts are consistent with the Heart brand and are sufficient to achieve the objectives established.
· Manage daily functioning of all new client relationships
· Ensure the resources of the company are utilized effectively to ensure all clients receive the same high standard of service
· Be the company ambassador of the Heart Brand as a quality, consumer centric, timely service provider that delivers against its value proposition.
· Cross train and operate 8-10 non-successive weeks per year on site/in office in Melrose Park, IL in dispatch/track& trace/rates.
Skills Required
· Proficiency with computers, ability to work in most Windows applications, especially Microsoft Office
· Technical knowledge of industry trends, as they might create opportunities or challenges
· Demonstrate high personal integrity and be willing to take personal responsibility for achieving sales and gross margin objectives.
· The ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with all existing and potential clients as well as the Operations team
· Reasonable technical skills to be able to use all systems effectively and proactively support all company software.
· The ability to develop a comprehensive prospect list that is within the parameters of the target market and the strong inter-personal skills to sell to the prospects to achieve objectives.
· Proof of adequate home office setup is required for this hybrid-remote position
· Must have the ability to work independently, self govern, and manage your time effectively
· Sales experience required
· Freight industry experience required
· Established book of business preferred
· College degree preferred, but not necessary for the right candidate
Duties
· Create a database of business to business sales leads by cold-calling, research, networking, referrals, past-experience, & email marketing
· Strategically onboard new customers through lead generation, pricing, and follow up to meet and exceed sales targets
· Present and demonstrate our freight services to prospective clients, highlighting the values and benefits of partnering with our company
· Practice exceptional negotiation and closing skills, focusing on building long-term client relationships
· Collaborate with Operations team to ensure a successful execution of freight services while addressing customer concerns and/or dealing with customer issues
· Identify potential client needs and effectively communicate those to the operations team to create sell rates and client requirement profiles
· Develop and maintain continuous knowledge of market conditions, industry developments, and industry networking
· Negotiate rates with clients and potential clients
· Effectively communicate both verbal and in writing with clients, potential clients, and Operations team.
