Title: Director of Domestic Violence Services

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Domestic Violence Services who is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and oversight of all domestic violence programs and services to survivors, their children, and communities. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, client-centered services to individuals affected by domestic violence. The Director will oversee program development, staff supervision, budget management, community outreach, and partnerships with other service providers. This position directly supervises the Community Office Program Manager and Residential and Shelter Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate domestic violence programs to ensure they meet the needs of clients and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee daily operations of domestic violence shelters, crisis intervention services, counseling, and support programs.
- Ensure that all services are trauma-informed and culturally sensitive.
- Implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in service delivery.
- Provide guidance, leadership, and consultation to staff.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff, including case managers, counselors, and support staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of domestic violence survivors at the local, state, and national levels.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of program data to monitor outcomes and improve services.
- Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Collaborate with the development team to write required public sector grant proposals and narrative reports.
- Prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in domestic violence laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Represent organization in community partner meetings.
- M-F onsite, with some on-call work when needed.
- Process payroll.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Master’s degree in psychology or social services, LCSW or MFT (preferred).
- Experience with domestic violence survivors, especially in the context of marginalization of race, class, gender, and sexual identity is required.
- 40 hours of Domestic Violence Counselor Training per California state requirements or be willing to complete training within first 60 days of employment.
- Experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- Experience with Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing (including the four core motivational interviewing skills, or OARS - Open questioning, Affirming, Reflecting, and Summarizing.)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and online cloud documentation use and storage.
- Experience working with a diverse community including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrants, low-income communities, and varying ethnicities.
- Proficient in other languages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to de-escalate clients in crisis and make decisions under pressure.
Special Requirements:
- Covid vaccination and negative result on TB test required.
- Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer.
