How would you contribute?
The Learning and Development Specialist utilizes adult learning principles to design and facilitate instructor-led learning programs for assigned internal customers; including New Hire Orientations and the training and development of classroom facilitators. This role is responsible for the administration of learning management software to include creating and updating training courses, enrollment in training classes, audit of training attendance, maintenance of training records and the creation and delivery of training content.
Essential Duties:
- Primary administrator for the company’s learning management system (LMS) in collaboration with the HR System Administrator
- Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, instructors, and customer representatives.
- Develop training content and materials by completing thorough research, analyzing educational vendors and assessing the employment needs of departmental managers.
- Organize a training curriculum that is engaging and allows trainees the maximum opportunity to participate.
- Evaluate teaching methods to select the options that will aid in the delivery of concepts without unnecessary distraction, downtime or confusion.
- Acclimate new hires to the “Business and Conduct” new hire orientation sessions.
- Create interactive, multimedia presentations.
- Provide internal support of ongoing technology and media needs as they relate to training and engagement, including taking pictures, video creation, updating digital displays and company intranet.
- Ensure production personnel utilized for training activities are qualified and can train others successfully.
- Develop collaborative partnerships with department leadership and HR support teams.
- Conduct training “Success Checks” to evaluate on the job training (OJT) effectiveness, collect data and analyze for trends.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest adult learning tools and trends.
- Support training and engagement projects and initiatives.
- Report food safety concerns to management.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired
- Proficiency in computer usage, including Microsoft 365, Articulate or other curriculum design software, and Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Previous experience with administration of a learning management system preferred
- Previous experience using Adobe Captivate, Articulate and/or other curriculum design software required
- Strong ability to design, articulate and evaluate content for the adult learner
- Capability to solve complex problems, utilizing strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities and accomplish goals
