Job Summary:
The Controller plays a vital role in guiding the organization's financial practices, overseeing financial records, and formulating financial management procedures. Responsibilities include supervising all accounting and budgeting functions, analyzing statistical and accounting data, and executing activities crucial for the organization's fiscal stability and operational effectiveness.
This position offers the potential for advancement within the organization, potentially leading to roles such as Vice President of Finance and ultimately Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
- This position will report directly to and collaborate with the CEO on operational and strategic matters.
- Provide strategic insights to the CEO based on financial analysis, cost allocation, and revenue/expense evaluations.
- Translate business strategies into financial strategies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external use, currently managing financials for eight entities with anticipated growth.
- Generate quarterly cash flow reports and oversee cash management. • Develop finance reports to support new business opportunities.
- Assist with special projects and member services updates, including Payroll and Accounting and Health.
- Manage fixed asset inventory and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare company tax returns and manage tax exposure.
- Implement Board-approved financial policies.
- Serve as secondary contact for external auditors and prepare preliminary audit worksheets.
- Maintain balanced accounts and authorize necessary transfers.
- Review and approve invoices and payroll processing.
- Analyze receivable accounts and implement collection procedures.
- Contribute to convention budgeting and invoice approval.
- Coordinate budget development with Directors and Executive Management.
- Conduct variance analysis on approved budgets and oversee spending.
- Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports.
- Streamline manual processes and integrate accounting software with association management software.
- Supervise PAC database management and financial reporting.
- Manage FEC filing deadlines and approvals.
- Present financial reports to finance committees on a quarterly basis.
- Supervise bookkeeping staff.
- Collaborate with Directors to develop and monitor budgets.
- Maintain communication with legal counsel, auditors, vendors, and franchisees.
- Process annual dues and regional invoices.
- Assist with monthly bank and merchant account statements for multiple entities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- CPA certification and minimum five (5) years of association accounting and budgeting experience
- Proficiency in Peachtree accounting software and Salesforce required
- Familiarity with benefits management and PC-based computer systems
- Strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, proactive approach, and interpersonal skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
