Early Childhood Mental Health & SEL Coordinator
The Academy for Global Citizenship seeks an exemplary Mental Health & SEL Coordinator to lead its teaching staff in the area of mental health, SEL and Conscious Discipline. AGC offers a Dual Language, Head Start, Reggio-Inspired Early Education Program with an IB PYP framework (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme) and is looking for a candidate with a passion for our educational philosophy and the school’s mission and vision which emphasizes sustainability and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the SEL and Mental Health team in AGC’s Early Childhood Program
- Ensures mental health services are being provided according to the Head Start Program Performance Standards and Start Early Policies and Procedures
- Leads the Conscious Discipline Action Team, including coordination, training, schedule, tracking and monitoring of the implementation of the Conscious Discipline socio-emotional curriculum
- Coordinates a multidisciplinary team that ensures the support of children who are going through the mental health referral process
- Supports the implementation of Interim and Positive Behaviors Support Plans with teaching teams in classrooms by observation with feedback, monitoring lesson plans and supporting teaching teams in the classroom with modeling intervention strategies
- Supervises the inclusion aide position, including biweekly reflection supervision, creating a weekly schedule and supporting classroom implementation of individualization
- In collaboration with leadership, responsible for planning and coordinating staff wellness initiatives
- Creates and maintains collaborative community partnership agreements with local community-based mental health services to ensure families have access to mental health services in their local community for both parents and children
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bilingual and biliterate (English/Spanish)
- Knowledge and experience with SEL and mindfulness practices with children
- Experience with Conscious Discipline
- Minimum of two years experience in an Early Childhood Education setting
- Strong Understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards
- Strong leadership, initiative, communication skills and personal drive
- Strong computer skills, ability to set up and maintain a database system
- Familiarity with various Early Childhood Education curriculums and assessments (Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold) - Preferred
- Knowledgeable of theories and practices in child growth, development and early childhood education
Education Requirements:
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Family Therapy - Required
- Clinical Licensure is strongly preferred (Must be license eligible at time of hire)

Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience and level of education. Full benefits, free breakfast and lunch, wellness fund, and professional development funds offered.
