Mental Health Worker
The Mental Health Worker provides culturally competent biopsychosocial assessments, counseling, and case management services for clients who are in need of mental health services.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Charts patient's progress in conjunction with the specific treatment plan.
- Competent group facilitation and 1:1 interactions.
- Treats and cares for patients demonstrating understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological status.
- Demonstrates technical competence necessary to provide care to unit patients; seeks out opportunities to increase competence.
- Anticipates and provides for discharge needs beginning with completion of admission belongings form and storage of patient's belongings.
- Demonstrates knowledge of verbal diffusing and safe restraint use.
- Participates actively and collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment team members in the treatment planning process to develop a common approach and obtain successful short and long term outcomes.
- Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for the therapeutic milieu.
- Performs unit orientations and supports patient's involvement in self-care and unit activities.
- Acts as an advocate for patient rights.
- Reports to appropriate others and takes initiative to correct actual or potential incidents of staff, program ethics, environment or equipment deficiencies. Takes appropriate action in anticipation of potential life-threatening or emergency situations.
- Demonstrates competence in the application of restraints and post-restraint debriefing.
- Assumes responsibility for own clinical competency and updating of clinical knowledge.
Minimum Education:
Minimum Work Experience:
- At least two years experience in the mental health field is REQUIRED; experience in the substance abuse treatment field is a bonus.
- Successful completion of Hospital and Unit orientation programs.
- Must be culturally sensitive.
Required Licenses, Certificates, Registrations:
- CPR certification required.
- DeEscalation/ CPI Preferred.
- 2 years experience in Psychiatric setting preferred.
Minimum: $21.66
