Big Brothers Big Sisters has the following position available: Matching Specialist - AMACHI located in Houston, TX.
Position Summary:
Conduct phone presentations to match children and volunteers based on preferences. Schedule match introductions, perform annual updates for unmatched children, assist in enrollment of volunteers and children
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:
- Research agency database to secure potential volunteer and mentee matches
- Conduct phone presentations with parent/guardians related to viable volunteers and do the same for volunteers for potential mentees
- Schedule match introductions for new matches with appropriate match support specialists
- Conduct volunteer and client reassessments/updates
- Maintain a caseload of unmatched children, making contacts and conducting updates as required by BBBSA and the agency’s Program Manual
- Maintain accurate Match Force database records and paperwork/documentation for each volunteer and client according to BBBSA and agency standards
- Attend and participate in all Enrollment and Matching meetings and other staff meetings (such as the monthly Program Staff and General Staff meetings)
- Escalate issues to supervisor if warranted
- Become familiar with community resources for client information/referral, share knowledge and information with staff members as appropriate
- Attend unmatched activities, seeking opportunities to make meaningful in-person contacts with unmatched children to enable matching
- Assist with agency special events and customer relations activities, as needed
- Assist with Enrollment and provide written assessments of children and volunteers for the agency’s Community Based, School Based and High School Programs, which include interviews, individual orientations, home assessments, and completion of any other required checks as required by BBBSA and the agency’s Program Manual, as needed
- Maintain state licensure, if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a social science or human science discipline such as sociology or psychology
- Minimum one year social service work experience, preferably in a non-clinical environment
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Intermediate level proficiency in MSWord, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, including keyboard skills of 45 words per minute, error free
- Prior experience with heavy use of database and high volume of phone work
- Flexibility and availability to accommodate weekday early/evening work hours and occasional weekend hours
- Willingness to work within culturally diverse environments
