Under the supervision of the Construction Official the staff member will assist in the code enforcement process as outlined in the Uniform Construction Code.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Answer telephones, schedule inspections, review applications for completeness with checklists.
· Interact with public and office personnel.
· Update a database with new applications, permits, certificates, and inspections.
· Collect permit, violation, and sewer lateral fees.
· Create correspondence and documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Maintain department files, including scanning of documents into Township database.
· Manage stressful situations in a professional manner.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices; must be able to apply skillset to specific situations
· Must possess excellent communications skills and maintain professionalism at all times
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and employees
· Ability to type correspondence and reports rapidly and accurately
· Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing when performing duties for the division.
· Ability to communicate with visitors and process requests for information in accordance with established procedures
· Ability to maintain records and files accordingly and provide follow up as necessary
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of secretarial/clerical experience with excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Must have strong word-processing skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel; must be detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills.
