Provides proactive estimating on a single or multiple projects, which includes providing quantity takeoffs, assisting
in pricing, assisting with the solicitation of bidders, bidding, and in getting the project contracted and started.
Strives for accuracy and correct cost estimates. Due to the uniqueness of each project, the estimator uses
creativity in the take off and presentation to ensure a complete and accurate estimate. Makes certain that the
company is being represented in accordance with Bonneville’s values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consults with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate
estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
- Responsible for the assembly of conceptual, schematic, design development, and bidding estimates in an
accurate and timely matter meeting deadline.
- Proficient in all aspects of bidding: soliciting subcontractor bids, critical analysis of bid scopes, analyzing
packages, assembling bids, and submitting complete estimate to Owner.
- Coordinate with Business Development to fulfill client needs regarding RFPs or other estimates.
- Assist with the plan distribution, prequalification, and solicitation of bidders for bidding projects.
- Obtain clarification and answers to contradictions, conflicts, inadequacies, and other issues represented
by plans, specifications, and other documentation.
- Review, study and know project plans & specifications.
- Capable of articulating project specifics during bidding interviews in a clear and concise format.
- Understanding of construction terms, materials, techniques, procedures, and practices.
- Maintains a strictly high-level of confidentiality regarding financial specifics of projects.
- Represent the company and speak to project specifics in bidding interviews with the Business
Development team.
- Coordinate with operations team to verify schedule, general conditions, and a successful project turnover
from preconstruction to construction team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Confident in leading and training a team.
- Knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, plans, construction
documents, contract documents, and specifications
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Proactive and deadline oriented.
- Understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
- General knowledge of LEED principles.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Building Connected.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 5+ years or more of related commercial construction experience.
