The Metro Group, Inc. is an established Building Services company that has been in business since 1925. We provide water treatment, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and other building needs to customers throughout the NYC tri-state area. We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager.
The primary responsibility will be to manage a team of five to six Account Managers responsible for ~$8 million in annual sales with a goal of 10% growth or more per year. The selected individual will oversee their team’s business relationships with customers to ensure accurate and timely responsiveness to customer concerns, increased product penetration, cross selling, and retention of the customer base. Responsibilities include account management, new business development, and growth.
The Business Development Manager will be involved in hiring, training, and developing Account Managers to ensure Metro Group customers receive the highest level of customer service and quality. The Business Development Manager will also oversee many key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Sales Department including outbound call volume, maintaining excellent customer relationships, delivering a sales quota, increasing organic growth, maintaining renewal rates, business development/new business growth, responding to customer requests, pro-active problem solving, meeting productivity goals, and handling emergency situations.
Other duties will include managing a small sub-set of clients directly, assisting Account Managers with customer conversations, and identifying root causes when customer dissatisfaction occurs.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Finance department and ensure their team’s outstanding customer balances are in-line with company goals. They will work closely with the various service departments to properly quote, sell and schedule work. The Business Development Manager will report to the Senior Director of Tri-State Building Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field
- Minimum of five (5) years sales experience
- Minimum of five (5) years running a sales department with direct reports and growth responsibility
New business to business (B2B) sales experience preferred
- Familiar and comfortable with holding teams accountable to KPI’s
“Hunter” sales mentality; goal driven and self-motivatedKnowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Previous customer service experience in an industrial or service industry preferred
- Excellent communication skills
COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
- $90,000-$140,000 per year, inclusive of bonuses and commissions typically earned for excellent performance
