Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail oriented and experienced Lead Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and dispatching vehicle transportation orders, ensuring efficient scheduling and timely delivery. The Lead Dispatcher will work closely with drivers, customers, and other team members to facilitate smooth operations and maintain high service standards.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule transportation routes for drivers using GPS and transportation management systems.
- Monitor driver performance and ensure on-time delivery of goods.
- Communicate with drivers via phone systems to provide instructions and updates.
- Utilize Oracle Transportation Management or similar software to track shipments and manage logistics.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient transportation planning.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints related to transportation services.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and provide ongoing support to the dispatch team.
Experience & Required Skills:
- 5-10 years of Car Hauler sales experience.
- Proven experience in dispatching or transportation.
- Knowledge of CentralDispatch.
- Experience negotiating rates with brokers.
- Familiarity with transportation planning and logistics processes.
- Proficiency in using GPS systems, phone systems, and transportation management software (e.g., Oracle Transportation Management, AS400)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, English)
- Freight brokering experience a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT and safety regulations.
- Excellent mathematical skills and decision-making capabilities.
- Book of Business a MUST have.
