SUMMARY
The position of Portland Quality Manager is to ensure products supplied to our customers meet all specified requirements. The role involves implementing quality control procedures, managing quality assurance, analyzing data, and collaborating with various departments to maintain and improve product quality standards. The role is also responsible for identifying areas for improvement, developing strategies to enhance quality, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Design and implement quality control procedures to monitor and maintain the quality of industrial processes and products
· Establish quality standards and specifications in line with industry standards and company objectives
· Address all quality related issues to ensure action plans and preventative measures are followed
· Conduct regular inspections and audits of manufacturing processes, equipment, and finished products to identify defects or deviations from quality standards
· Develop and maintain inspection protocols and checklists to facilitate thorough evaluations
· Manage the Quality Management System by organizing ongoing communication, documenting plant performance, and address needed improvement activity. Liaise with external parties on matters relating to the quality management system. Reviews and updates quality/procedure manuals as necessary. Address all quality related issues and answer any questions, ensure corrective actions are implemented and customer issues addressed
· Collect and analyze data related to quality metrics, such as defect rates, yield rates, and customer complaints
· Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans to prevent accidents and their recurrence
· Use statistical analysis and other tools to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement
· Lead the resolution of customer’s quality related concerns or issues for the Plant. Ensure effective closure of corrective actions
· Select, evaluate and monitor Supplier’s performance in conjunction with purchasing department. Interface with engineering to determine if material deviations are acceptable
· Coordinate with test engineering and/or outside professionals on Failure Analysis, Testing, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Write technical reports as needed
· Key role in employee training programs on product knowledge and compliance
· Supervise and coach direct reports in quality or related disciplines
· Administer and maintain performance reviews and recommendations for employee development
· Promote and support a collaborative work environment with a keen focus on complete customer satisfaction
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across manufacturing processes
· Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and technology integration to improve quality outcomes
· Other related duties as requested by the Plant Manager
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in material Science, mechanical engineering or equivalent
· At least 5 years in a quality management position in a heavy manufacturing environment (metallurgy, heat treat, welding or similar technologies preferred)
· Experience with quality management systems
· Lead Auditor for ISO-9001 and must have the capability to plan and conduct Internal Audits
· Strong analytical skills; use data to drive decisions in a timely manner; attention to detail
· This role requires strong planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
· Strong skills with Microsoft Office products, and other business systems
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Pay: $88,000.00 - $111,000.00 per year
