JOB DESCRIPTION
A restaurant server is responsible for creating memorable dining experiences. To do this, you need to be able to create rapport with your customers. You'll need to be personable, upbeat and efficient, and be able to anticipate guests' needs. It is up to you to provide exceptional customer service. If you excel at your job, you can move up into positions like shift manager, bartender or guest services manager.
Being a restaurant server is often a possibility for those new to the workforce. Employers will want you to have a food serving certificate, and one for serving alcohol if applicable, but there is no lengthy training. You'll be a great asset if you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, want to provide amazing customer service and love working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of a server is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining at the airport. Restaurant Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive
to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Servers are expected to have some basic cooking knowledge.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Accurately complete monetary transactions
● Greet customers and present food and beverage menus
● Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries
● Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age
● Take orders (food and beverage) directly from customers
● Record food and beverage orders accurately into register system
● Upsell food and beverage items to customers
● Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
● Attempt to limit problems related to customers' excessive drinking by following established procedures
● Process transactions using the POS system
● Prepare checks for customers
● Process customer payments
● Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
● Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift
● Monitor inventory
● Effectively communicate with customers, team, and managers
● Have working knowledge of all drink recipes by the end of training
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
● Execute and enforce all state liquor laws & company policies in regards to alcohol
● Flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment
● Adhering to all company and health department food safety procedures
● Positive attitude towards fellow employees and guests of the bar/restaurant
● Complete all daily cleaning duties, including but not limited to tables, chairs, windows, window ledges, trash cans, and floor areas
● Effectively communicate with customers, team, and managers
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
● Minimum of 2 years of server experience
● Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and product documentation. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and
management. Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
● Knowledge of basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use a calculator. Must be able to complete monetary transactions (with or without the POS System)
● Proven ability to develop relationships with customers and co-workers
● Ability to positively and proactively handle customer concerns and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
● Maintain a flexible schedule based on business needs, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
● Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 60lbs, while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques
● Ability to constantly move, talk, hear, reach, and stand. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
