Job Summary
Our Front Desk Receptionists perform various reception and clerical tasks in a Primary Care office setting such as: answering and transferring calls, greeting and assisting patients, scheduling, collecting office visit copays, electronic document filing, and data entry are required. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced setting. Must be able to effectively communicate with your team, staff and our physicians, and promote positive working relationships. Must be able to interact with patients over the phone as well in the office, address patient requests in a timely and appropriate manner. Must have the ability to handle difficult situations and conversations with courtesy and professionalism.
As a Front Desk Receptionist, you agree to the following:
- Work a full-time position. The shifts are days and weekends; nine (9) hour workdays with a one (1) hour lunch break and two (2) days off during the weekdays.
- Work one (1) holiday throughout the year. The holidays our office observes and are open half-day are New Years Day, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. We are closed for Christmas.
- Have open availability. Coverage is important to the Front Desk, therefore, you are expected to cover a shift if another team member calls out.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one (1) year prior office experience preferred but optional
- Computer literacy required in Microsoft Word and Excel with word processing and spreadsheets
- Operate various office equipment, such as copiers, document and card scanners, and credit card machine terminals effectively and efficiently
- Pleasant personality, professional demeanor, well-groomed and professional attire required

Responsibilities
Under general supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Answers all incoming phone calls and directs them to the proper extension accurately and in a timely manner
- Greets walk-in patients ensuring prompt service
- Makes appointments for patients
- Enters patient demographic information into EMR as applicable
- Accepts/receives payments for services and balances opening and closing cash and credit card reports
- Maintains front office area to present a clean and professional environment
- Adheres to established safety, confidentiality, compliance and legal requirements
- Must have reliable and consistent attendance and comply with company guidelines on attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned by department supervisor
Physical Capabilities
- Light to moderate physical effort
- Occasional carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects; and lifting of up to 25 lbs may be required
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
- Frequent prolonged sitting, occasional standing
- Must be able to see, hear and respond adequately
- Frequent use of telephone and other office equipment

About Our Office
Kihei-Wailea Medical Center has strived to become South Maui's most comprehensive medical facility. We have 8 dedicated providers who specialize between family care, internal medicine and pediatrics, and work alongside their nurses. We have full-time coordinators and personnel in referrals, billing and medical records departments. Within our medical center, we have several specialty providers available, including: Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Podiatry. We also have Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii (CLH), Maui Diagnostic Imaging (MDI), and Venture Physical Therapy within our medical center. We are fortunate to have partnered with these different health services and medical specialists to provide outstanding health care.
