Company Overview: Established automotive group seeks capable Controller for its construction and farm equipment division. The successful candidate will supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting department; manage the monthly financial closing process; prepare monthly financial statements and various related and supporting reports. The Controller will assess workflow and reporting structure, make improvements, build a strong and efficient team, and provide high-level financial reporting. This full-time position reports to the Corporate Controller.
Job Description: As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our accounting department. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for managing the monthly financial closing process, preparing accurate financial statements, and providing high-level financial reporting. Your keen eye for detail and strategic mindset will be instrumental in assessing workflow and reporting structures, implementing improvements, and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise accounting operations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Oversee the maintenance of the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Lead daily transaction processing, payments, collections, and periodic bank account reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including reconciliations, income statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and supplementary financial reports.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to accounting procedures and workflows.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience (3+ years).
- A positive attitude and a collaborative approach to team management.
- Commitment to maintaining a regular and dependable work schedule.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, with a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and internal control systems.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
