Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking specialist referrals within our network.
- Accurately record patient information, medical history, and referral requirements in our database.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to secure appointment slots, manage schedules, and confirm referral appointments.
- Provide patients with all necessary information regarding their referral, including appointment details, preparation instructions, and location directions.
- Follow up with patients post-referral to collect feedback and ensure continuity of care.
- Address patient inquiries, concerns, and any issues that may arise during the referral process, offering solutions and alternatives when necessary.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of our healthcare network, including specialties, provider preferences, and insurance guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to verify eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay current with best practices in healthcare coordination and customer service.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a call center or customer service role, healthcare environment preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients and healthcare providers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of multitasking and managing multiple patient cases efficiently.
- Proficiency in computer skills and database management, with experience in electronic health records (EHR) systems a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
