Indiana Math and Science Academy North is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic Elementary School English teacher to become part of a team of outstanding educators. The position involves collaboration with the other teachers within the assigned grade level and a commitment to student achievement. The best person for this position will also teach Social Studies.
You will be responsible for helping the students master the language and adhere to grammatical rules. You will be researching new teaching methods and gathering supporting materials. Besides teaching, you should be able to help students critically analyze poems and pieces in Literature.
Responsibilities
- Creating lesson plans and gathering materials as per the curriculum
- Helping students read and comprehend stories and poems
- Assigning projects and assignments to students
- Evaluating and grading students' submissions
- Taking reading sessions in the class
- Answering students' queries patiently
- Allocating lectures depending on the course weightage
- Helping students cope up by creating individual lesson plans and taking one-on-one sessions
- Marking students' daily class attendance
- Grading and discussing student's performance
- Teaching sentence structure and composition rules
- Ensuring proper usage of grammar rules
- Training and accompanying students for competitions and debates
- Mentoring projects and conducting extracurricular activities
- Teaching critical analysis of literary topics and poetry
- Participating in annual meetings and conferences
- Attending workshops to upgrade language skills
- Encouraging classroom discussions and participation
- Explaining different literary genres like fiction, poetry, memoir, and mystery to the students
Requirements
- BS/BA in English Language or English Literature; MS is a plus
- Prior work experience as a teacher or any other role in the Education industry
- Certified by the state board as an English teacher
- a solid grounding in classroom management and school procedures
- solid knowledge of subject matter including subject-specific curriculum and assessments
- Ability to create lesson plans as per the state/national curriculum.
