WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager the Broker/UW quotes new and renewal business in a timely, efficient, friendly and accurate manner to include timely turn around time on all new and renewal business all the while being responsible for growing revenues. This position interacts with company and retail agent personnel in a diplomatic and knowledgeable manner in order to establish positive relationships, increase revenues and retain policies upon expiration. Also, performs related work as requested by Management. This person, in concert with other new/renewal business underwriters, is responsible for production and profitability results of the new and renewal business segment of our commercial brokerage department. Defined as a ‘producer’ and participates in the Top Gun program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Reviews and manages the application of underwriting policy and pricing for all risks within an assigned book of business (brokerage).
- Develops, cultivates and maintains key agency, broker and client relationships to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
- Makes recommendations on UW policy, companies and pricing to management.
- Manages all processing duties associated with new and renewal brokerage business written in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists in training as deemed necessary by management.
- Familiarity with al TSG company pricing systems and guidelines.
- Ability to negotiate with company Underwriters on rate and turn around time.
- Ability to motivate retail agents to provide required UW information.
- In depth knowledge of the brokerage industry and ways to “lock up” the market.

REQUIRED:
- 5+ years insurance industry experience. Home office, retail or wholesale experience is acceptable.
- Ability to obtain Texas P&C license in the first 90 days of employment.
- Exceptional telephone demeanor.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task and perform expectations in a highly stressful environment.
- Above average communication skills.
- Ability to proofread and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to resolve insurance issues and provide solutions for the retail agent.
- Must be available to work overtime as required by the work flow demand.
- Professional and friendly attitude and mannerism.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. May substitute 10 years successful industry experience.
