Summary: Responsible for leading the logistics team in the daily operations of corn receipts, ethanol truck deliveries, ethanol railcar deliveries, and dried distiller grain (DDGS) deliveries to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Conduct data analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards
Unloading corn trucks
- Sampling corn from trucks
- Watching truck unloading for corn quality issues
- Inspecting and helping maintain conveyors and corn unloading equipment
- Starting and stopping equipment as necessary
- Operate skid steer for corn pick up and clean up purposes
- Efficiently tape gauge grain bins
- Coordinate and work with grain marketer to ensure room to unload corn and enough corn in storage to run the plant
Loading ethanol trucks
- Working with operations and laboratory personnel to ensure quality of ethanol loading to trucks. Work and cooperate with truckers as necessary
- Work and sometimes maintain equipment associated with ethanol truck loading
- Work with ethanol marketers to schedule out ethanol
- Work with lab and units to produce on test quality ethanol
Loading ethanol cars
- Working with operations and laboratory personnel to ensure quality of ethanol loading to railcars
- Acquire DOT certification for loading of railcars
- Efficiently and safely load ethanol railcars
- Efficiently and safely operate track mobile to move ethanol cars
- Responsible for FRA compliance and reporting
- Acquire annual PHMSA permit
- Establish and monitor safe procedures for loading and unloading railcars
- Loading ddgs(dried distillers grains with solubles) to rail cars and truck
- Utilize the front end loader to load dry and wet ddgs
- Operate track mobile with remote control to load dry ddgs
- Operate computer-controlled conveyors and weight augers to load dry ddgs
- Efficiently and safely operate track mobile to move ddgs cars
- Work with ddgs car lessor on car maintenance issues
- Coordinate with grain marketer and customer to schedule ddgs cars as necessary
Unloading denaturant trucks and railcars
- Work with drivers to assist in unloading denaturant trucks
- Efficiently and safely unload denaturant railcars
- Coordinate and schedule trucks and railcars into plant
Efficiently and safely tape gauge ethanol and denaturant tanks
- Inspect and drain tank farm as necessary
- Ensure regulatory compliance in tank farm area
- Monitor and repair flare as necessary
- Monitor and order corrosion inhibitor as necessary
- Assist and advise on tank expansion projects
- Assist and advise on barge loading project
Assist maintenance department in maintenance as necessary
- Assist maintenance department and operations department in sweeping and cleaning of grain bins
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years management experience
- Proven experience in logistics management or a related field
- Experience in the operation of grain handling, plant logistics and or dry-mill ethanol plant preferred
- Experience with Front End Loader, Track Mobile, Skid Steer (Heavy Equipment) experience in farming preferred
- Experience in accounting for and loading/unloading hazardous liquids a plus
- Excellent data analysis skills to identify trends and make data-driven decisions
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps and work at elevations of 175 feet. and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Must be able to adapt to outside work environments which could include cold, heat, wind, rain, snow and slippery surfaces
- The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions
- Individual will be exposed to high noise levels at times
- The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
