Job Description for the Assistant Food and Beverage Director
The Maui Country Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of Food & Beverage to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences and possess strong leadership skills to assist the Director of Food & Beverage in overseeing all aspects of our food and beverage operations. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service, as well as caring and servicing our members and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist the Director of Food & Beverage in planning, organizing, and executing all food and beverage activities within the club.
· Supervise and train staff members to ensure exceptional service delivery and adherence to club standards.
· Collaborate with the culinary team to develop seasonal menus and special event offerings, ensuring variety, quality, and profitability.
· Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage cost control measures to optimize profitability.
· Oversee the maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation standards in all food and beverage areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
· Foster a positive working environment by providing guidance, support, and coaching to team members, addressing any performance issues as needed.
· Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to promote food and beverage offerings and attract new members and guests.
· Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
· Conduct regular meetings with staff to communicate goals, initiatives, and performance expectations.
· Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and best practices in food and beverage service, recommending improvements or enhancements to operations as appropriate.
· Manage personnel functions including but not limited to, hiring, corrective disciplinary action including termination, attendance, vacation schedules, grievances, and performance reviews.
· Understands the Club’s By-Laws, House Rules, Employee Handbook, Department of Liquor Laws, Department of Health Rules, and any other Federal Regulations.
· Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the General Manager or Director of F&B.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in food and beverage management, preferably in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or private club environment.
· Strong leadership abilities with proven experience in supervising and motivating a diverse team.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and food and beverage management software.
· Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in food handling and sanitation.
· Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable dining experiences for members and guests.
· Hawaii Food Handler's Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
· Certification Card from the Department of Liquor Control, County of Maui. (or ability to obtain upon hire).
· Knowledge of Hawaiian cuisine and local food and beverage trends is a plus.
· Must be able to work long hours and handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50lbs, and regularly standing for extended periods of time, walking, climbing, lifting, grasping, squatting, and performing repetitive motions.
