Hill Country Humane Society is seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Kennel Technicians. This pivotal role is crucial in ensuring the daily well-being of our dogs through attentive care, meticulous cleaning, enrichment, and positive training. Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and attention to animals in our kennel facility.
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to established routines and specific needs.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal areas, with cleaning duties sometimes requiring 5 to 6 hours per day.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, promptly alerting veterinary staff of any concerns.
- Support potential adopters by sharing information about the dogs and facilitating interactions.
- Guide adopters through the adoption process, ensuring an informative and positive experience.
- Develop and manage enrichment programs to keep the dogs mentally and physically active.
- Utilize positive reinforcement training techniques to promote good behavior and enhance adoptability.
- Administer medications as prescribed by veterinary staff.
- Handle all animals with utmost care and compassion.
- Maintain precise records of animal behavior, health, and treatments.
- Uphold the highest standards of compassionate and respectful treatment for all dogs.
- Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to daily needs and challenges.

Experience:
- Prior experience in animal care or similar roles is advantageous.

- Capable of engaging in cleaning and maintenance tasks for extended periods.
- Preferably experienced with veterinary practices or shelter environments.
- Basic knowledge of dog handling and care.
- Skills in pet grooming, pet sitting, or dog training are beneficial.
- Ability to manage physically intensive tasks, including heavy lifting.
- Knowledgeable about kennel operations and animal care best practices.
