Job Title: Senior Legal Editor

Responsibilities
Advanced Markets Products for the Life Insurance Industry
- Product Maintenance: Regularly review, update, revise, enhance, and improve our suite of advanced markets products, from a comprehensive technical reference tool to concise client-facing descriptions of key estate planning topics. Products serve home office teams and support producers through every step of the sales process.
- Research and Writing: Research and write custom advanced markets client projects and internally driven new products as required.
- Relationship Building: Answer client questions on occasion. Form relationships with client contacts to both position the company as a resource and learn about products or topics of current interest to our clients.
Charitable Gift Planning Products for the Nonprofit Community
- Product Maintenance: Regularly review, update, revise, enhance, and improve our suite of planned giving products, from a comprehensive technical reference tool to concise donor-facing descriptions of key planned giving strategies. Products serve planned giving professionals as they work with donors and prospects.
- Research and Writing: Write a quarterly technical newsletter for attorneys, accountants, trust advisors, and financial planners. Each issue delves into a particular planned giving tool, strategy, or other relevant topic, including tax issues and IRS rulings. Nonprofit clients distribute this newsletter to build relationships, increase mission awareness, and position the organization as a technical resource for gift planning ideas.
- Relationship Building: Answer client questions on occasion.
General Responsibilities
- Deadline Commitment: Meet all review and production deadlines to comply with contractual product release dates. Delegate tasks as appropriate. Work closely with the editorial team to agree on priorities and communicate progress.
- Quality Assurance: Supervise and maintain the technical and legal accuracy of all services, programs, and projects.
- Contract Negotiation: Review and assist in negotiating new client contracts.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and review the work of the junior legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: JD or equivalent legal qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal editing or comparable work. Because our products and services span a broad array of topics, experience does not have to be limited to the life insurance industry or nonprofit sector. We will consider candidates with relevant experience in taxation, estate planning, business planning, or retirement planning.

- Exceptional writing and editing skills. This includes the ability to present technical information in both interesting and easily understandable ways.
- Strong understanding of advanced markets, estate planning, charitable giving, and related legal and tax issues.
- Excellent project management and time management skills that allow you to consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Compensation and Benefits

- Beginning salary range of $90k-$110k depending on experience and qualifications
