We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Patient Financial Counselor in Westfield, Massachusetts. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our healthcare services by assisting patients with their financial responsibilities. The successful candidate will be adept in handling billing functions, counseling, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the correctness of patient insurance details in the system and maintain their accuracy.
- Assist patients in completing MassHealth applications and staying informed about MassHealth policies.
- Verify and update all demographic and financial information, collecting patient balances when applicable.
- Utilize MEDITECH and Microsoft Excel to effectively manage and track patient data.
- Handle customer service responsibilities by addressing and resolving patient inquiries about their credit status.
- Apply counseling skills to guide patients through the financial aspects of their healthcare journey.
- Manage patient copays effectively, ensuring all financial transactions are handled efficiently and accurately.
- Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments.
- Proficiency in MEDITECH software is required
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of Billing Functions in a healthcare setting
- Prior experience in Counselling, particularly in a financial or healthcare context
- Exceptional Customer Service skills
- Familiarity with Copays and other healthcare-related financial transactions
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients regarding their financial obligations
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures and regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively counsel patients on financial matters
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to address patient concerns and queries
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong understanding of healthcare insurance processes and patient eligibility
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
