The Maintenance Tech is responsible for ensuring the overall continuous operation of Paragon properties both from a production as well as a facilities perspective. The Maintenance Tech will work with management to prioritize needs as well as identify opportunities for improvement within the organization while assisting with training of entry level Maintenance Techs. The is role must be knowledgeable in and follow all procedures need to ensure the proper safe and efficient operation of the production environment. Position works under established procedures and company guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Skillfully performs maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and/or physical structures, including the maintenance/replacement of complex motors, high voltage systems and the ability to effectively remove and replace AC/DC drives.
- Performs basic to intermediate welding tasks as related to a manufacturing environment
- Utilizes blueprints (and schematics) to understand machinery, facilities maintenance requirements without supervision
- Performs advanced or complex wiring tasks without supervision
- Accurately performs general inspection to discern the root cause of equipment failures and or the need for maintenance of equipment. Makes advanced repairs within guidelines and authority limit, assists or leads other in larger tasks, follows established procedures for maintenance tasks and reporting
- Follows and ensures that all safety requirements and procedures are always observed and met
- Prioritizes maintenance jobs in order of importance or urgency to ensure production downtime is kept to absolute minimum. Works with manager to determine priorities and ensure knowledge of significant issues
- Assists with basic programming support
- Basic knowledge of the Line Computer system and may work within the control system with limited supervision
- Works within, uses and/or effectively monitors the Programmable Logic Controller, Drive systems and Robotics at an advanced level and troubleshoot within system, may provide some programming support
- Works within the Computerized Maintenance Management System to record daily tasks including the shift reports, work orders, etc. in a timely and accurate fashion
- Assists with maintaining maintenance department; ensuring inventory is returned to proper locations and general housekeeping tasks are completed
- Identifies opportunities for improved processes and procedures to assist with efficient management of maintenance tasks and service provided to all departments, provides viable suggestions and implementation plans for those improvements with ability to carry through to completion
- Maintains and up-to-date knowledge of machines and facilities. Ongoing learning through seminars, trainings, classes, etc. to ensure up to date knowledge related to job functions, equipment, electrical tasks and other applicable tasks as related to the job duties, utilizes knowledge to effectively train lower levels of Maintenance Techs on essential functions, ability to determine the necessity and documentation of new SOPs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Ability to read, interpret and utilize blueprints
- Intermediate to high level welding and fabrication skills
- Intermediate to advanced wiring skills
- Is knowledgeable and skilled in the use of hand tools and other industrial maintenance tools and can identify proper tools for various jobs
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement while adapting to fast paced environment and rapid changes. Able to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail
- Ability to be on-call and respond to maintenance calls and needs during off-shift hours
- Strong organizational skills combined with good problem-solving skills
- Practice and promote teamwork within our organization, demonstrated leadership skills, and ability to effectively train on maintenance related topics and procedures
- High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality with the ability to be on call as need for maintenance issues.

· Ability to stand and walk continuously on concrete floor for 12-hour shifts

· Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally
· Ability to twist at the hip and waist area on a regular basis
· Ability to rotate neck to look backwards, up, down and sideways on a regular basis

· Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally
· Ability to must regularly lift and or move up to 65lbs
· Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 80lbs with assistance
· Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over paging system
· Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one to three years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment working on both facilities and machinery
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Maintenance in a plastics manufacturing environment
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:
Work involves overtime, shift rotations and schedule changes. Requires adherence to deadlines and project completion deadlines.
