Job Summary:
The Meter Technician can perform quality audits, is able to assist with abnormal operating conditions and work autonomously while diagnosing and applying remedial action to conditions they observe in the field. In addition they will also:
· Access in person field findings and apply disposition depending on circumstances
· Apply protective coating to natural gas meters and pipes to prevent leaks caused by corrosion, and report any abnormal operating condition if detected during the process.
· Follow company policies and QM3 Safety & Quality process
· Inspect for AOC (Abnormal Operating Conditions)
· Account for assigned equipment including iPad/phone, respirator, tools, brushes, scrapers, paint applicator, paint shields, and safety gear daily to ensure that they are in good working order, clean and safe to use.
· Navigate independently to assigned meters, and stage job sites for safe, timely, and accurate completion of assigned premises.
· Provide good customer service and be a good public face for QM3, (i.e., being courteous and pleasant to the homeowners and the public we meet during the workday).
· Follow defensive driving rules and obey local/state traffic laws.
· Meet weekly production goals with quality failure rate less than 5%.
· Comply with all quality policies, practices, and procedures.
· Report unsafe activities to supervisor and/or HR immediately.
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Use the Vehicle Inspection Worksheet, to help track the current condition of company vehicles and report defects/breakdowns.
· Confirm the accuracy of meter locations. Contact QM3 Office to help locate meters that are difficult to access (CGE) or difficult to find (CNL).
· Travel for special projects
Technical Skills:
· Have a normal sense of smell and hearing.
· Be able to perform basic tasks, (i.e., walking, bending, locating, scraping, brushing, wiping, blowing, painting, inspecting for missed spots after painting, and recording the work performed accurately, cleaning, shielding, spraying, using an iPad/Phone, etc.) and be or become familiar with safety and atmospheric corrosion inspection and protection requirements.
· Be able to recognize and diffuse volatile and/or unsafe conditions with clients and residents.
· Be able to efficiently use painting tools.
· Be able to lift to 15lbs.
· Be able to use smartphones to coordinate tasks remotely.
· Be able to monitor gauges and instruments.
· Be able to navigate to specific locations without assistance.
Computer Skills:
· Basic computer skills
Language Skills:
· Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure/policy manuals.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
· 1 to 2 years of job-related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
· Valid Driver’s License
· Able to obtain Operator Qualifications.
· Attend company required training.
Quality and Workmanship:
· 95% pass rate
· Work performed and completed according to company requirements, and corrective and disciplinary actions for quality (see attached document)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
