This position is responsible for all troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing, warehouse, and facility equipment. Maintenance Technician II can work independently at times depending upon job assignment and will work under the direction of other plant personnel including but not limited to maintenance techs, maintenance manager, or engineering director to perform repair, preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. They will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the safety, quality, and cost-effective output goals and objectives of the company. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to commute between operating facilities (Waunakee and Madison) to make repairs as assigned.
Essential Tasks:
- Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as conveyors, saws, and assembly automation equipment.
- Repair or replace control devices such as photo eyes, switches, contacts, proximity sensors, push buttons, motor starters, etc. as needed.
- Able to set up and operate shop equipment including welders, lathe, mill, and grinders as required.
- Perform repair and preventative work orders/requests, adjustments, and inspections as assigned through the Computer Maintenance Management System.
- Assist in monitoring product quality as necessary.
- Perform or assist with machine and line changeover as needed.
- Maintain and repair all facility equipment including but not limited to: HVAC, overhead doors, light plumbing repairs, and light carpentry items.
- Maintain all equipment supporting the distribution center of the business including but not limited to conveyors, fork truck minor repairs, and other material handling equipment
- Maintain a work area that is orderly and safe with good housekeeping practices.
- Perform all tasks with a high degree of personal safety, and participate in all plant safety, health, and environmental programs as well as all safety procedures and policies.
- Assist manufacturing engineering with projects and tasks as assigned through the Maintenance Manager.
- Attain qualification to operate forklifts and aerial lifts as part of the company training program.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned, including facilities repairs.
Qualifications:
- Candidate should have the ability to attain an accredited maintenance degree, journey worker certificate or 2+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to commute between operating facilities to make repairs as assigned.
- Possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving are a must in this position.
- Highly recommended having the ability to weld and/or have the aptitude to acquire this skill.
- Having a working knowledge of basic electrical circuits including print reading and electrical safety best practices.
- Must be familiar with MS Office, email, and ability to enter work orders in the computer maintenance work order system, as well as familiarity with automation programming software.
- Must work well in a team setting. Ability to get along with co-workers and other departments. A positive attitude is required for this position to be successful.
- High demand for accuracy/precision, with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift continually at least 35 pounds from the floor to shoulder height and on occasion up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to lift, twist, bend, and stand throughout the shift.
- Willing and able to understand and follow directions.
Work hours: Monday - Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
