To provide a comprehensive one-on-one educational and therapeutic fitness program for members to assist them in achieving their fitness goals. As a personal trainer, it is your responsibility to incorporate individual needs into each training program educating clients on safe equipment usage and form during training taking in consideration the client’s individual capabilities and limitations.

Each trainer is responsible for tracking client paperwork, which must be kept at the Park District at all times in a safe, designated area

Provide comprehensive fitness consultations to new clients

Periodically evaluate client fitness level and skill set to plan reachable and realistic short and long-term goals offering modifications as needed

Accurately record client-training sessions for payment purposes on Paycom.

Monitor and communicate client program progress and/or problems with the Fitness Supervisor

Fairly work with all potential clients without prejudice, demonstrating equal respect, inclusion and encouragement to all

Conduct personal training sessions within the policies and guidelines established by Bensenville Park District

Assist Fitness Supervisor with Health Fairs, client communication, facility maintenance as assigned

Ability to administer client health history questionnaires and interpret physical assessment data within scope of practice

Ability to provide expert demonstration and instruction in general and specialized exercise techniques as well as educate clients on diet and nutrition within scope of practice

High school degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field such as Kinesiology, Nutrition or Physical Therapy preferred

Must hold a current national certification in Personal Training such as NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ACE or equivalent. Certification must be NCCA accredited

Must be CPR/AED First Aid certified and able to keep certification up to date

Previous personal training experience preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Great communication, patience, persuasiveness and adaptability skills to work with clients and build professional relationships with each of them, including those who may need specialized attention

Communicate clearly and effectively to Fitness Supervisor and co-workers

Position may involve frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing and weight lifting

SALARY $25-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
HOURS This position may require to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on client needs, ranging between 2 hours and up per week, depending on the number of clients
