POSITION SUMMARY:
The Edible Rendering Operator is responsible for tending equipment used to render and process animal source material including animal fat trimming.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes inspection of equipment to determine if sanitation is adequate to begin the rendering process.
- Assembles rendering equipment including expellers, grinders, pumps, pipes, blades, and cooking tanks.
- Tests equipment to determine proper functioning.
- Check tank availability/levels and manipulate valves to set the tank to be used.
- Remove the product from the tempering cooler, using powered lift vehicle(s), and secure the product into the dumper.
- Log information on the product such as lot number, weight, source company, and start time.
- Opens valves and starts pumps and conveyors to move materials through the rendering process.
- Monitors temperature gauges, rate of flow, and condition of materials passing through cookers, expellers, and grinders; adjust valves and rate of flow.
- Label containers properly.
- Execute basic preventative maintenance including disassembly of centrifuges for the purposes of replacing gaskets, and o-rings, and checking the oil in gearboxes.
- Contacts maintenance mechanics for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
- Execute sanitation schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- Jr. High School or equivalent level literacy
- Elementary School level math
- 0-6 months of a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and write at a Jr. High School level or equivalent.
- Basic arithmetic ability, including addition and multiplication.
- Self-motivated and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to drive, pass, and maintain powered lift vehicle(s) certification.

- Office and plant setting. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
