UTILITIES ESTIMATOR, T&D and SUBSTATION
FLSA STATUS – EXEMPT
Atlantic Power Constructors (APC) is a Utility Construction Company formed in July 2022 by industry veterans with a combined 100+ years of power sector experience. As APC continues to grow and meet the demands of their clients, our company is looking for an Estimator to support that growth.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Estimator position will be responsible for preparing proposals and estimates on projects to include costs of materials, labor and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
This position reports directly into the President of APC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare estimates by calculating the complete scope of work.
- Review contracts, proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Assist in developing and supporting the proposal response to include writing work plans, schedule development, and other technical responses.
- Review and include data from past projects, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Review all final estimate packages with leadership and key team members prior to the formal quotation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage the RFP process for any necessary suppliers and subcontractors.
- Interface with owners, partners, or other contractors to provide engineering and cost data to assist in the final evaluation of bid/proposal.
- Follow awarded contracts which may include estimating extra work items, credits, change orders, procurement of material, etc.
- Facilitate the contract handoff to the appropriate Project Manager to include job cost tracking and productivity analysis.
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as requested by leadership.

- Ability to read and understand Requests for Proposal (RFPs), blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
BASIC/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction discipline or equivalent work experience
- 5-7+ years' experience in Distribution and Transmission estimating.
- Advanced knowledge of all standard electrical systems in T&D construction projects.
- Highly knowledgeable in utilizing electrical estimating software.
- Understanding of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation experience from 12kV to 345kV.
- Thorough understanding of labor risk factors including, but not limited to, location, weather, labor availability, installation difficulty, and scheduling.
- Electrical transmission, distribution, & substation experience from 12kV to 345KV, Civil, SVC, GIS, and AIS.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.08 - $36.23 per hour
