The Assistant Director of Prevention Services is responsible for direct oversight of regulations, policies, procedures and practices; planning, staff supervision, hiring, organizing, developing, implementation and coordination of Prevention Services at Elmcor. The Prevention Services encompass the following programs: RISE UP, Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE), Queens Prevention Coalition (QPC) , Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP), and Personal Education Responsibility Program (PREP) This position reports to the VP of Youth Services.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work collaboratively with Assistant Director of Youth Recovery Services and Early Childhood Education Director as part of the Youth Department Leadership team to execute the YD vision.
- Planning and implementing of Prevention Services (RISE UP, Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE), Queens Prevention Coalition (QPC) , Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP), and Personal Education Responsibility Program (PREP).
- Monitor all program outreach activities, program assessment, program evaluation, reporting and providing a range of program services in coordination with the Director of Youth Services, Youth Program Supervisory staff, Evaluators and Development Consultants.
- Work with Elmcor’s youth services partners including Article 28 clinics, CUNY/SUNY institutions, DOE NYC public schools, Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Legislators, Community Coalitions and Organizers to ensure program youth are receiving required services.
- Ensure completion of all prevention program activities to be in compliance with all approved work plans and based in prevention, community organizing ,and youth development principles
- Maintain contact with current funders, contract and program managers. Monitor and/or complete required agency monthly reports and statistical data, funder reports or reporting databases, annual reports, and annual work plan development.
- Attend all mandatory funder meetings, trainings and technical assistance groups as indicated by program contracts.
- Plans and coordinates program services along with the Director of Youth Services.

- Provide direct supervision to Prevention Services supervisory staff to ensure accountability and growth of all youth programs
- Identify and Coordinate facilitation of evidence based programming based on community needs, adhering to funding source mandated levels of EBP service delivery;
- Responsible for quality assurance including program evaluations.
- Review budgets and assist in budget modifications and adjustments narratives.
- Assists in the revision and updating of policy and procedures manuals, forms, and systems as needed.
- A participating member of the Leadership Team, Grants Development Team, and CQI committee.
- Represent the organization on external bodies, such as community boards, coalitions, task forces, planning groups and other roles that place Elmcor in the community.
- Responsible for selection, hiring and performance reviews department area staff.
- Develops community linkages relative to needs;
- Initiates public information forums as needed and as is relative to prevention and recovery issues;
- Provide supervision, staff development opportunities, and monitoring of staff’s performance by maintaining a work environment that provides maximum support for well-being;
- Conducts Prevention Services Program team meetings;
- Coordinates staff scheduling, ensuring adequate staff coverage.
- Assures that prevention service delivery is not interrupted by staff vacancies or absences.
- Maintains a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a staff of top-quality people.
- Participates in fundraising activities.
- Assists with organizing and implementing agency wide events.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends.

- Assists with prospecting and applying for funding to support enhanced and new initiatives;
- Oversight of all Prevention Services supervisory and staff.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the programs.

Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in social/Human services or related clinical field or;
- BS/BA Degree from an accredited college with a major in counseling, psychology, social work or a human services related discipline and 2 years’ supervisory experience working with applicable populations; or
- A Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP); and 2-3 years’ supervisory experience working with applicable populations.
