What You’ll Do:
A patient account specialist is responsible for performing billing, and collections, and providing customer service. Other duties include:
- Answer incoming patient inquiries via phone and email while providing great customer service.
- Patient and insurance credit/refund processing, both requested and by EBO reports.
- Collections management via EMR, Cornerstone Credit Services, and Transworld.
- Attend and bring collection-related report(s) to monthly department meetings.
- Balancing and posting of Cornerstone Credit Services payments.
- Draft, monitor, and process patient payment arrangements according to MNA policy.
- Financial Hardship counseling, eligibility, recommendations, and tracking.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage for high-cost procedures.
- Follow up on address error reports within MNA’s clearinghouse.
- Ensure proper documentation of all correspondence with patients, insurance, and vendors.
What You Need For This Job:
- High School Diploma or general education degree
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must reside in or near Wasilla, Alaska.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Database software, internet software, and word processing software.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, or feel, talk, and hear. Ability to occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardization situations.
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
