- Prepare high quality media, buffer, and reagents according to a regularly occurring schedule as well as special requests.
- Track & document shelf life of media mixes, and plan for re-occurring mix preparation
- Follow SOPs, protocols, and other guidelines as it relates to the preparation of reagents and buffers
- Quality control testing of these materials to ensure products are free of contaminations and are formulated appropriately
- Maintain relevant lab supplies and materials by confirming the purchase of raw materials and managing the inventory.
- Support the writing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of preparation protocols.
- Analyze, synthesize, and communicate data to both technical and non-technical colleagues and collaborators.
- Be able to interact with colleagues in other functions and department to solve technical problems.
- General laboratory tasks, including maintenance of equipment, stocking of consumables, glass washing, and overall lab upkeep.
- Verification and use of technical equipment including balances, pH meters and liquid transfer devices
- Interpret scientific documents for custom media mixes
- Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.
Qualifications/years of experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a chemistry, biology, or other relevant discipline OR
· Associate’s Degree in a chemistry, biology, or other relevant discipline with 2+ years’ experience in a laboratory environment OR
· High School Degree/GED with 5 years' experience in a laboratory environment
Must Haves:
1. Media and reagent prep experience within a laboratory environment
2. Basic understanding of chemistry of buffer preparation including titrations and reactions
3. Sufficient math skills to calculate Mass/Molarity, concentrations, and dilutions
4. Ability to read and interpret chemical labeling and hazardous signage.
5. Attention to detail and understanding of the basic laboratory environment
6. Excellent organizational skills; ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
7. Ability to follow oral and written directions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
