The Medical Assistants in our practice perform a variety of functions and are an important part of our practice. In addition to rooming patients, taking vitals, and documenting information in the patient chart, they may also prepare sterile trays for vein procedures and assist physicians during procedures. MAs also make and receive phone calls and assist with insurance verifications and scheduling. It's a fun, fast-paced job!

Job Description: Clinical Support Specialist – Medical Assistant
Clinical support staff performs a variety of functions as dictated by the needs of the clinic. Flexibility, reliability, and a great attitude are essential attributes for clinical staff.
The clinical staff’s primary responsibility is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician while providing exceptional patient care.
The staff accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
· Patient medical history and physical exam.
· Procedures and treatments performed.
· Physician orders.
· Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
· Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up.
Staff may also:
· Identify errors and/or inconsistencies in medical documentation.
· Alert the physician when the chart is incomplete.
· Collect, organize, and catalog data for the physician quality reporting system.
· Attend training on diverse subjects such as information technology, legal, HIPAA and regulatory compliance.
· Edit all the physician’s medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Experience:
· Experience in physician's office preferred.
· Athena EMR experience strongly preferred.
