Team One Credit Union is currently seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a member of the executive team, the CFO will play a critical role in driving the financial strategy and ensuring the long-term financial health and sustainability of the credit union. The ideal candidate will be strategic, collaborative, and proactive, with a strong understanding of financial management within the banking or financial services industry. This role will be a key advisor to the CEO in providing information to make decisions in the best interests of the credit union and our members.
This position is performed on-site in Saginaw, MI, with the possibility of remote capabilities for added home/work-life balance, after the successful conclusion of the mutually agreed upon probationary period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the credit union's long-term goals and objectives.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Analyze financial data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and risk mitigation.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports to the executive team, board of directors, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for strategic action.
- Develop and maintain effective risk management policies and procedures to safeguard the credit union's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices to proactively address compliance issues and mitigate risks.
- Manage the credit union's liquidity, cash flow, and investment portfolio to optimize returns while maintaining appropriate levels of liquidity and risk.
- Develop and implement investment strategies to maximize returns on surplus funds in accordance with the credit union's risk tolerance and investment policies.
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the finance/accounting and compliance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Cultivate a high-performance team by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and supporting employee growth and career advancement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and risk management practices within the financial services sector.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
