he primary function of a Heavy-Duty Field Service Technician is to perform on-site inspection, diagnosis and repairs of customer’s heavy duty lift trucks and equipment at their location. Conduct overall inspection to verify the truck is up to safety standards and make recommendations on any required repairs. Enter necessary information on work orders and work order summary. Must have good communication skills and world class customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate daily schedule with Field Service Advisor
- Provide excellent customer service at the site
- Communicate with the customer upon arrival and update as needed
- Inspect the forklift and/or issues that were reported
- Give customer full report on condition of equipment and what is needed to repair equipment along with the cost to do so
- Diagnose and repair equipment per customer request
- Quality control each job to ensure completeness
- Communicate with customer and dispatch on job completion
- Clean the area after work is completed
- Verify the equipment is up to safety standards
- Inspect company vehicle and initiate necessary scheduled maintenance per service manual guidelines
- Drive in a safe and courteous manner. Every day is a major responsibility to insure the employees’ safety as well as others on the road
- Complete and submit all work orders every day through electronic tablets that are issued to you
- Company issued mechanics truck, crane, welder, and tool service body must be kept clean and orderly to allow technician to work efficiently while presenting a professional image to our customers.

Physical Job Demands:
- Noisy shop environment; including customer sites. Must be able to lift 100lbs., stoop, squatting, pulling or working in awkward positions. Required to work in various applications ranging from inside warehouses to working outside in various weather conditions.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Clean driving record
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipment
- Auto, truck, or military repairs experience will be considered
- Requires strong mechanical aptitude
- Must have mechanic tools for heavy duty equipment
- Experience using heavy duty mechanics trucks with cranes
- Welding and cutting torch experience necessary
Special Skills Needed:
- Cummins Industrial Certification preferred. Cummins industrial certification training available to qualified candidates.
- Experience working on heavy construction equipment, generators, crushers, static pumps, or any other heavy-duty equipment.
- Experience completing major component rebuilds of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and hydraulic cylinders
