Job Summary:
The Network Administrator reports to the Information Technology Services (ITS) Director with the primary duties of directing ITS personnel and teams to ensure SWOSU’s computer systems and networks remain secure and reliable throughout the day. The Network Administrator is ultimately responsible for managing the use of wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and organization-specific networks. Acts as a resource for the ITS department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Ensure the operation of the network runs smoothly and properly
· Maintain the organization’s data management & information technology needs
· Ensure that data remains intact, secure and accessible in case of system crashes by conducting data backups
· Provide 24x7 support for the network
· Install, implement, and troubleshoot network switches, routers, hubs, servers, and other hardware in all environments (onsite and virtual)
· Responsible for making key hardware decisions including but not limited to replacing or upgrading servers, shifting to new software to improve network security, reliability or speed
· Develops proposals for IT improvements and investments
· Continually improves, upgrades, and repairs network security by monitoring and evaluating network performance issues including (but not limited to) availability, utilization, throughput and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls
· Conducts routing system audits, making recommendations to improve reliability and performance
· Assume full responsibility of company VPN including setup, connectivity and security
· Serves as the administrator to the IP telephone system and provides basic telecommunication system support
· Serves as the administrator to O365 and Microsoft Exchange
· Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
· Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as maintaining documentation of configurations, standards, and vendor activities, serving as primary backup to the ERP System Administrator, the ITS Operations Specialist, and for the wireless system, and tracking and updating all incidents in the ticketing system
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
· Strong interpersonal customer service skills
· O365/Exchange administration experience
· Network performance tuning; VPN, LAN, WAN and DMZ knowledge
· Possess network and WiFi design, implementation, and troubleshoot skills and abilities
· VM Ware and Windows Administration experience
· Extensive experience configuring and managing software and hardware related to LANs and WANs
· Exceptional analytical skills, multitasking, coordination, and teamwork
· Must occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs.
· Cisco VoIP administration knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills to direct their teams and communicate IT needs to organization leaders
· Colleague ERP administration experience
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or his/her designee may find appropriate

Pay: $62,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
